Richard Doyle

Richard Doyle (1824-1883) was one of the great names in Victorian children’s book illustration. Published in 1870 and printed by Edmund Evans, In Fairyland became one of the most famous of the 19th century colour printed children’s books and recognized by many as one of the finest. The pictures were provided by Doyle to illustrate a poem by William Allingham (Helen Allingham’s husband).
