Nicora Gangi

Gangi's stunning pastel still lifes reflect intense, faith-filled feelings; her small-scale and intimate paintings question the values of modern life by depicting the most mundane of modern objects.

Her career as a printmaker honed an ability to layer and blend, capturing light and bringing forth a texture not typically found in pastels. In fact, any of Gangi's subjects are treated with velvet brushstrokes often associated with oil paintings, creating an illusory tangibility.

Her work has been included in publications of The Pastel Journal (which granted her its coveted Grand Prize Award), and the Old Forge Pastel National, which selected her for its Outstanding Still Life Award, and appeared as the cover feature of International Artist Magazine.
